One night in the deep woods, I spied a young maiden,
dancing and chanting in a circle of flame.
As she sang to the winds, and called to the Goddess,
I knew that my life would ne'er be the same.
And there did I see, 'neath the moon's pale splendor,
A plain young maiden to a Goddess now changed.
Her face full of love, in her eyes, timeless wisdom,
I was pierced to the heart, by a magick unnamed.
And the Goddess whispered:
"Come dance in my circle, Dance for the Spirits of the Earth, Moon, and Sky.
Dance for joy of the warm summer forest,
Dance with me now in this pale moonlit rite".
As I moved from the darkness and into her circle,
A veil was lifted from my heart, mind, and eyes.
For there could ne'er be answers if I knew not the questions,
So I looked to the Goddess for her wisdom and sight.
As the warmth of her blue flame acted upon me,
I noticed my skin turn to fur of pale white.
With hooves, horns, and swiftness, I moved to the Goddess,
Was the great God Cernunnos, taken over that night.
Come to me, come to me, lover Cernnunos,
Come without fear, with your heart strong and warm.
For we'll love through the years, and we'll love through the seasons,
With each year anew, our love fresh and reborn.
Her eyes lit with passion, and pierced my once lone heart,
The questions and answers came clear to my mind.
As my tears gently fell to the warmth of her soft breast,
Magick and true love, my new heart did find.
And we danced together that night in her circle,
We danced for the Spirits of the Earth, Moon, and Sky.
We danced for joy of the warm summer forest,
We danced together in a pale moonlit rite.
